About Nigel Fletcher-Jones
I am currently based in Tuscany, Italy and Cairo, Egypt, having previously lived in the US, Netherlands and Britain. Trained in the UK as an archaeologist and anthropologist, most of my images reflect my continuing fascination with the prehistoric and historic past. Images of non-European cultures and historic landscapes also play a large part in my work. My love of the past is also often reflected in the presentation of my images - which often mimics historical styles of representation from faux prints to postcards and antique photographs. Wonderfrul composition and processing. Great to see the repetition of the red colour in the boat, the middle wind mill and the sky. Well done! Next time I'm at Zaanse Schans, I'll endevour to seek this angle myself

Hello Nigel, What a colorful picture! Yes, "THE STILLNESS BEFORE THE STORM" - nothing is moving. I love this photo, however I would crop the top (the bright area) and if you have to also crop the left side a little bit. Try it, you will really feel the storm coming. Just a suggestion. Hope you do not mind my suggestion, I feel that we are never to old to try new things out and to learn new things.
Nigel Fletcher-Jones replied:
Thanks, Gerlinde, I shall try that. All the best.

Just glorious!
