The international press has done a tremendous job of scaring off tourists from Egypt. For the most part, what the journalists say is complete nonsense and has created wholly unnecessary hardship in Upper Egypt where much of the population is dependent on tourism. Here two local tour guides at Edfu temple sit waiting for tourists to come back.

Trained in the UK as an archaeologist and anthropologist, most of my images reflect my continuing fascination with the prehistoric and historic past.
