Description
The (originally covered) colonnade of Luxor temple was constructed during the reign of Tutankhamun (reigned 1336-1327 BCE), possibly following a plan of his grandfather Amenhotep III (r.1390-1352 BCE). The colonnade connects the sun court of Amenhotep III and the sanctuary beyond with the more recent court added by Rameses II (r. 1279-1213 BCE).
The two colossal statues at the front of the colonnade are of Rameses II. Rameses' Great Wife, Nefertari, can be seen in miniature beside the right leg of the righthand statue.
